2018 – 2019

The Jamieson Way Community Centre is governed by a volunteer Board of Management.

CONGRATULATIONS  Kim Gale for recently being awarded the 5 year volunteer service award from Wyndham City Council  –   thanks so much for your amazing contribution to Jam Way CC.

Our Volunteer Board of Management add specialist knowledge and skills to the governance of the centre. Here is an insight into our Executive members… we asked them each these three questions

  1. How long have you been on the Board?
  2. A highlight of your time on the Board.
  3. Your thoughts on emerging opportunities that strengthens the community.

President

Warren Roche

I have been on the Board of Management for 13 years and President for the past eight years.

Being presented with the Above and Beyond Award by the then Prime Minister Julia Gillard in 2012 for services to the community along with the the centre’s 10 year celebration in 2016 have been highlights.

The proposed master plan for the Jamieson Way reserve, which will hopefully give the area a lift and provide a stimulus for greater participation in activities in the surrounding area.

Vice President

Kim Gale

I have been on the Board of Management for five years.

The 10th year anniversary would have to be my highlight. What a fantastic achievement for the centre and the board. The community came out in full force to help us celebrate.

I love how many groups come into the community centre especially older members of our community. How friendly our staff are, how diverse our groups are and how community focussed the centre is.

Treasurer

Margie O’Kane

I have been a Member of Board for two years as a general member and one year as Treasurer.

The friendship of the members and conducting values exercises.

I would like to facilitate partnerships that results in better program integration so together we can develop strategies to increase awareness and access to programs and encourage volunteering.

 Secretary

Helen Corke

I have been on the Board since it began 12 – 13 years ago.

I loved being involved with organising the 10 year birthday celebration.

I think the pop up park is a great opportunity for locals to come together an showcase the diversity of Point Cook.  I love that JWCC offers a wide range of activities and is welcoming and inclusive.
I love that the community runs the centre.
